New to the area? Or perhaps you live locally, but haven’t had the chance to fully explore what surrounds SCFIT? Here’s what you need to know about the vibrant South Birmingham Suburb that is… Stirchley!
Stirchley: Award Winning Area
You might’ve seen in recent news: Stirchley was voted the best place to live in the Midlands in March of this year! And it’s no wonder why: with its buzzing independent business trade and social spots a-plenty, Stirchley seems to be getting better and better by the minute. We’re here for Part 1: read on to find out about our favourite spots when it comes to food and drink in Stirchley.
Cafes
Our favourite spot for post-workout coffee has got to be the charming Caneat. Run by an SCFIT member, Caneat boasts a creative, changing menu, a wonderful range of fresh cakes and treats, and a cracking cup of coffee! With seating both indoors and outdoors, the team are always eager to find a spot for walk ins and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The eclectic decor and dozens of lush plants make for the perfect settings for a post-CrossFit brunch! We recommend trying the 7 Minute Eggs, and a Flat White to sit-in.
Relaxed Dining
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to Restaurants on Stirchley High Street! Our laid-back favourites include Alicia’s Micro Bakehouse: an artisan pizzeria offering both dine in and take-away pizza goodness! You can even order online so if you don’t fancy venturing out, their delivery service has got you covered. Yardbirds is also a must-visit for casual eats: with monthly offers including chicken wing deals and bottomless brunch, this quirky spot is the perfect spot for a friendly get together or family treat. The third in our list of relaxed eateries is the wonderful Eat Vietnam: this cosy kitchen serves up the very best in Vietnamese cuisine with flavours that pack a punch. Be sure to reserve in advance because this place books up fast!
Fine Dining
Onto more of the fine-dining scene, we recommend Verbena: a modern British restaurant offering a changing seasonal menu of small plates. Open Thursdays to Saturdays and ad-hoc pop-up Sundays for Sunday lunch, it’s best to book in advance! And, new for 2024, Pershore Road has welcome Rabbit into its local selection of restaurants. This one’s for the foodies – with roots in South Africa, Rabbit started as a pop-up venue for a year before finding a permanent home on Pershore Road in Stirchley. Be sure to book well in advance for this one – due to its intimate size and popularity you’ll be hard pressed to find a table late notice.

Drink
Famous for its craft breweries, Stirchley isn’t short of excellent drinking spots! First up has to be Attic Brewery: just 400 metres walk (or run!?) from SCFIT, this laid back haunt is the perfect spots for a post-evening-class beverage! With food pop-ups, occasional live music AND dog friendly nature, it’s a must-visit if you’re in the area. Slightly further afield (we’re talking a few hundred additional metres!) is Birmingham Brewing Company! Simply Cross Pershore Road and you’re almost there. And if Breweries aren’t your thing – this little stretch of Stirchley High Street has a whole host of wine and cocktail bars to choose from! Ranging from Stir Stores to Couch, Stirchley is packed with cosy spots for an intimate drink or a buzzing group get together.
