How to pick a gym – part 4

You’ve probably heard of CrossFit, but what 4 things do you need to bear in mind when searching the internet for a nearby gym?  Over the next few posts, we’ll make sure that you know what to look for and what to avoid…

Maybe you’ve seen fit people lifting big weights on Instagram. Maybe one of your friends from work goes to CrossFit after work every day. Maybe you even have friends who won’t stop talking about it.  Maybe you’ve seen some of the CrossFit.com documentaries on Netflix!

So you’ll probably want to know what all the fuss is about and you might have even put “CrossFit near me” into Google…

But before you fall down the Google rabbit hole, please make sure that you consider these four things 4 when searching for “CrossFit gyms near me.”

Number 4: Ask yourself whether you’re searching for a “CrossFit gym near me” or a “CrossFit personal trainer near me.”

Everyone who starts at SC FIT, starts in a one-on-one personal-training environment. That’s because we know that fitness can be intimidating. Gyms can be a scary place.  You might feel like you don’t know what you’re doing and that’s where we come in.  A solid 1-2-1 relationship helps smooth out any teething problems.

We don’t need you to get lost in a sea of terminology and equipment you don’t understand whilst surrounded by people who all seem to know what they’re doing.

You may even find that you enjoy the one-on-one environment more than group training.   You may find the flexibility of scheduling appeals to you.  Or the totally tailored programme might be the thing you’ve always been searching for.

CrossFit is a training methodology. Group training and personal training are the means with which it is delivered.

At SC FIT, we offer personal training services to all our members. Historically we have found that focusing on personal training is best for the following:

• Clients dealing with a pre-existing injury.

• Clients who have a very restrictive schedule.

• Older clients that might feel overwhelmed in a group class with 20- and 30-somethings.

• Clients who want to make the most progress in the least time.

• Clients who don’t like a group setting.

So rather than just hitting up Google with a couple of searches and then moving on, do a bit more research – it’s your health that is on the line!
