New for Summer 2025: HYROX Training and Kids Classes at SCFIT!

HYROX Simulation Birmingham: November 22nd at SCFIT

After the huge success of our last full HYROX simulation Birmingham event at SCFIT, it’s back! We’re running a another full HYROX simulation in Stirchley, Birmingham in just 10 DAYS on Saturday November 22nd, 2025.

What is a HYROX Simulation?

If you’ve found yourself here and you’re not sure what HYROX is – we’ve got you! HYROX is a global fitness racing event, with hundreds of official races taking place in various cities around the world. Find out more about Hyrox here, or head to one of our recent articles such as What’s the difference between HYROX and CrossFit’. At SCFIT we’re proud to be an official HYROX gym, and have been offering dedicated HYROX Training classes since August this year.

So – hopefully you’re all caught up now on what Hyrox is… so what’s a HYROX simulation? In short, it’s a practice event. Simulation events can vary from reduced or watered-down versions of the full event itself – perhaps shorter run distances, or fewer stations, which can be a fantastic training tool if you’re building up to your first Hyrox! – right up to a full length ‘practice event’. On November 22nd, we’re running a full Hyrox race, with all the right stations and distances of the actual event.

What’s the difference between a HYROX and a HYROX simulation?

The big difference is that the simulation is completed in the gym, so it’s typically a more relaxed environment. An official HYROX event takes place in an event space like the NEC (Birmingham) or ExCEL (London), and involves a number of official procedures, including registering way ahead of time! A simulation event is a great place to ’see how you’re doing’ and get involved in the action, whether you intend to compete at an official event or not. You won’t need a chip timer, and won’t have to turn up hours and hours before the start time to register, but you’ll still get tons of fitness in, and meet some like-minded fitness enthusiasts along the way!

Another big difference is the timing: in an official Hyrox event, you are allocated a start time – and this can vary enormously. Some participants will be first thing in the morning, whilst others may not even start their race until the evening. The good news for the SCFIT Hyrox Simulation is that you choose your start time. No waiting until the day before to find out when you’re racing, and no surprises!

How does the HYROX Simulation at SCFIT work?

On Saturday November 22nd, our full HYROX simulation starts from 11am, with heats of 4 people at a time. The event is open to all: existing members of SCFIT (HYROX and CrossFit members!) as well as non-members. You can book your chosen heat time now here for £20 per person. Existing members can scroll ahead to November 22nd on the WODBoard App and simply book straight in. You’ll see a choice of heats: a new heat starts every 15 minutes, with space for 4 people. Choose the time that suits you, bearing in mind this is your start time: not your arrival time. When it comes to 3, 2, 1, go, you’ll set off with a small cohort of people, working your way through the stations in your own time, at your own pace. Your race will be timed, and there a member of the SCFIT coaching team will be on hand if you have any questions (and to keep an eye on standards! 😉 ).

Can I race as a pair?

YES! You can sign up on your own, or if you’re interested in HYROX Doubles, you can take part as a pair. If you’re signing up with a partner, both of you need to reserve a space. Make sure you co-ordinate with your partner so that you both get a space on the same heat! This is absolutely essential.

When should I arrive?

Your chosen heat time is your start time – the time that you’ll set off on your first 1km run. So, you’ll want to be ready and warm in plenty of time for 3, 2, 1, go! Plan to arrive 30 minutes before your heat time so you can warm up, and familiarise yourself with the set up – especially if you’re new to SCFT and / or if this is your first HYROX Sim event.

Can I take part even if I don’t want to compete in an official HYROX Race?

Absolutely! The HYROX Simulation event is open to anyone – you do not need to have an official race booked (or even have plans to take part in an official race!). The simulation is ideal for anyone who wants to:

  • try a full event for the first time
  • measure their progress since their last event
  • train for a full event
  • test their endurance in the HYROX race format

There are official HYROX Events coming up in London next month and Manchester in January – so if you’re booked to take part in one of these, a full Hyrox Simulation will be perfect for you!

Where do I sign up?
