New for Summer 2025: HYROX Training and Kids Classes at SCFIT!

What are the SC Community CrossFit Classes?

If you’re an existing SCFIT member, or are doing an online search for Community CrossFit classes in Stirchley, you might’ve spotted the new(ish!) class on our timetable: SC Community CrossFit! So – what’s it all about?

It Started with Bootcamp: Fitness for All

As a CrossFit affiliate, we at SCFIT are firm believers in the CrossFit methodology, but we know that some movements can sometimes be a little daunting to a beginner – especially if you’ve never set foot in any kind of gym before! We also know that some folks simply like to show up for some brain-free fitness, and don’t want to have to think too hard whilst working out! We hear you… nothing beats an hour of movement where you can switch off and just MOVE. That’s why we launched first launched our Bootcamp classes in Stirchley – to provide you, the people of South Birmingham, with an option for accessible group fitness!

Rooted in CrossFit

The movements that we used in our original Bootcamp classes were always still rooted in the CrossFit Methodology: varied and functional. The big difference between CrossFit and Bootcamp was the technical skill – unlike our usual CrossFit classes, you wouldn’t typically find any olympic weightlifting barbell movements or complex gymnastics in the Bootcamp workouts, so even if you were a total fitness newbie, you were always welcome!

Time for a Re-brand

For those who are familiar with CrossFit, you will have likely noticed that sometimes a ‘normal’ CrossFit class might look like a Bootcamp class… and vice versa! And you’re not wrong: CrossFit is varied functional fitness: it doesn’t always need to include complex barbell work or gymnastics, in fact, quite the opposite – sometimes it should and will be simple! This is the beauty and the magic of CrossFit; one day you might be working on a heavy lift, another day you might be doing a simple conditioning piece. It’s the variety that makes it so effective!

So – if Bootcamp really was always a CrossFit workout… we’ve decided to rename it just as that! 🙂 Enter: SC Community CrossFit.

What makes it ‘Community CrossFit’ instead of just CrossFit?

Our usual CrossFit classes are open to SCFIT members with CrossFit memberships and to Drop-Ins (who must have existing CrossFit experience), so where our Saturday sessions differ is partly in the audience, and party in the cost (and cause!).

Who can come to SC Community CrossFit?

This is the best part – just like our previous Bootcamp classes, Community CrossFit is open to all adults of all experiences, members and non-members alike! You can book onto a Saturday as a one-off, or come to every session. No previous experience is required, and no membership needed.

£5 CrossFit Classes in Stirchley?!

The rumours are true – non members can buy a drop in pass for one of our Community CrossFit classes in Stirchley for just £5! We’ve tried to make these classes as affordable as possible to provide a fun and accessible option for anyone to join in on the fitness fun. AND – better still – this £5 donation goes straight to charity, so your weekend workout will be funding a special cause! At the time of writing, SCFIT’s chosen charity is Bridging the Gap – you can read more about this wonderful initiative here.

Top Tier Coaching

Our Community CrossFit classes are coached by the usual SCFIT team: friendly, experienced and dedicated coaches, who are there to not only deliver a great workout, but ensure you’re moving safely and efficiently. Every movement will be adapted to your experience level and needs, with weight, distance and movement options to suit you. Whatever your background, our coaches have got your back. We’ll cater to pregnancies, injuries and disabilities: here at SCFIT, everyone is welcome. If you would like to chat about your particular circumstances with a coach first, we’d love to hear from you! Feel free to email us anytime.
