CrossFit Games Semi Finals

The CrossFit Games: What’s Next

With The CrossFit Open now a distant memory, and Quarter Finals done and dusted, you might be wondering what happens next! Read on to find out about the next stage of competition in the road to the CrossFit Games, and how to get involved in the action!

The CrossFit Games Season So Far

The CrossFit Games season began back in February with The CrossFit Open. The top 25% of participants were then invited to take part in the online Quarter Finals. The QFs consisted of a series of 4 workouts, all to be completed in the space of a long weekend. Here at SCFIT, we included these workouts in our class programming! So – if you attended a class between Thursday 18th and Sunday 21st April – you did a Quarter Finals workout!

Semi Finals

Now, the top participants from the Quarter Finals have been invited to the next round of competition: the Semi Finals. For individual men and women (open age) and teams, the Semi Finals will be an in-person event. Qualifying athletes will be invited to take part in their ‘local’ Semi Final, in the hopes of making the final cut for the CrossFit Games! For participants in the European region, the Semi Finals will take place in Lyon, at the famous French Throwdown on May 17th-19th! Other in-person Semi Finals will take place across the globe: one event per region.

How to Watch

if you fancy a weekend away in sunny France… you can attend the French Throwdown in person by reserving a ticket for the event here! Or, keep your eyes peeled on the CrossFit Games site for details on how to watch the events online.

What about Masters and Age Groups?

If you’re a frequent reader of the SCFIT Blog, you might remember the announcement back in 2023 from CrossFit HQ where they shared an update on the changes to Age Group Semi Finals and the in-person Games. Read more here! In summary: the age group Semi Finals will take place online, where finalists will compete in person at the Legends Championship in Birmingham, Alabama.

Will we see any familiar faces at Semi Finals?

Absolutely! For those who follow The CrossFit Games, dozens of Games Athletes are returning to Semi Finals this year in the hopes to make another appearance at the CrossFit Games. If you’re watching the French Throwdown, you might even spot a very familiar face… former SCFIT Coach Helen Nutter will be taking to the competition floor with her team mates from AOD (Blueprint Training) in the Teams division! Back in the gym, Co-Owner and Coach Mike Holmes will also be taking part in the Semi Finals: Mike will be taking on the Masters 35-39 Semi Final workouts on May 8th-13th!

Stay tuned….
