Set Realistic Goals

Setting achievable and specific fitness goals is paramount. Break down larger goals into smaller, manageable milestones. This approach not only makes your objectives more attainable but also provides a sense of accomplishment, boosting motivation even on hectic days. Focus on these smaller victories to stay motivated and committed to your overall fitness journey.

To make sure you’re setting achievable goals throughout a year, select one to three areas you’d like to focus on. Prioritise what’s most important to you, then you can break this goal down into actionable points before moving onto the next of your goals.

This SMART acronym can be used to help you break the overarching goal into smaller chunks for you to work away at and give your goal some direction.

  • Specific: Include as much detail as possible, be precise about what you truly want out of this goal.
  • Measurable: Identify quantitative targets for tracking your progress and results. This can be in many forms from; weight, time or even videos and photos demonstrating an improvement or change.
  • Attainable: Make sure it’s possible to achieve the desired result, maybe start small with the measurable target as you can always change the target as you start to see improvement.
  • Realistic: Acknowledge the practical requirements necessary to accomplish the goal.
  • Time-Limited: Specify the timeframe, and build in deadlines along the way to hold you accountable.

Time Blocking: For Consistency

Incorporate your workouts into your schedule by using time-blocking techniques. Treat your training routine as a non-negotiable appointment, allocating specific time slots solely for exercise. This proactive approach ensures that even during busy days, you’ve carved out dedicated time for your fitness routine. This helps create an autonomic routine into your lifestyle and will help cement this as the norm in your life.

Preparation is Key

Streamline your routine by preparing in advance. Lay out your workout clothes the night before or pack your gym bag with essentials. This eliminates decision-making and ensures a smoother transition into your training, removing potential barriers on hectic days.

Accountability Partner

Consider teaming up with a workout buddy or accountability partner. Having someone to share your fitness journey with can significantly boost motivation and commitment. On hectic days, your accountability partner serves as a source of support, encouraging you to stay on track with your training. This person could be someone who you share your goals and aspirations with or is someone that you commit to going to a certain class at a certain time with weekly. Having someone expecting you to be somewhere at a certain time to train with, can be a big motivational driver to make sure you stay on track and do what you say you’re going to do!

Celebrate The Small Wins

Acknowledge and celebrate even the smallest achievements. Whether it’s completing a tough workout with maximum effort, hitting a new personal best, or simply showing up for your workout despite a hectic day and not wanting to train, celebrate these victories. Recognising your progress, no matter how minor, fuels motivation and reinforces commitment to your fitness plan. By having lots of small measurable achievements they can quickly stack up and get you closer to that big goal of yours.

Adaptability

Be flexible and open to adapting your workout routine on the busy days. Understanding that not every workout needs to be done at 100% and sometimes just turning up and doing the work no matter how good or indifferent it may be is better than doing nothing. If whatever life has thrown at us that day has got a bit too much and it’s not possible to come in to train that’s also okay, as there will be another 364 days in the year for you to come and train when there’s not so many pressures placed upon you.

Sometimes you do need the day off and rest may in fact be more appropriate with all the other stressors going on in your life. There’s only so much stress from the world around us, plus the stress we place on our bodies through training that our bodies can take before a rest is forced upon us through illness or injury. So sometimes listening to our body when life is getting hectic and either slowing down or stopping for a short time can be beneficial.

Reflect & Adjust

Regularly reflect on your workout plan and progress. Assess what’s working well and where adjustments might be needed. Reflecting allows you to fine-tune your approach, ensuring that your fitness routine remains aligned with your goals, lifestyle, and the demands of hectic days. Here at SCFIT we have member check-ins to sit and talk with coaches to reflect on how trainings going. Here coaches can help support members but also help direct them in the direction they want to go with their training.

In conclusion…

Staying committed to your workout plan on hectic days requires a combination of strategic approaches and a positive mindset. By setting achievable goals, incorporating workouts into your schedule, preparing in advance, leveraging accountability, celebrating milestones, being adaptable, and periodically reflecting and adjusting your plan, you can navigate through busy days while maintaining consistency in your fitness journey.

But the thing you need to remember, the journey to reaching your goals isn’t always about perfection but about persistence and progress no matter how big or small. Implementing these strategies empowers you to stay motivated and committed, ensuring that even on the most chaotic days, your dedication to your fitness goals remains unwavering.

Embrace the journey, optimise your time, and witness the transformation that arises from incorporating CrossFit into your busy schedule.
